Shortlisted entries:

If your image is shortlisted we reserve the right to reproduce it for commercial purposes including, but not limited to, calendars, promotional flyers and on social media, by doing so you agree to give National Historic Ships UK a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty free licence to use, copy, modify, translate and/or adapt, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display such derivative works of your photo or video for linked promotional material including our website and without any further notice or remuneration to you.  Your entry form asks you to provide your name in the format you wish to be used in any acknowledgements.  

If you are under 16, a parent or guardian will need to sign a written consent form.

If you do not reply to this email within two weeks, we cannot take your entry forward.  Please note that where multiple images have been submitted, the shortlisted panel will review these entries against the criteria and then cap the number per individual which go through to the final judging process to ensure opportunity for all.

Awards film and prizes

Winners will be announced in our annual Awards film, which will premiere on Youtube in November 2024.  Winners will be asked to record a short video to be incorporated in the ceremony.  If you are under 16, a parent or guardian will need to sign a written consent form.

The prizes must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred.  There will be no cash alternatives to the prizes.  Any prize remaining unclaimed six months after the closing date of the Competition will be declared void.

Governing law

Valid wherever legal, the rules of this competition are subject to English law and the parties to any dispute or action shall submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Judging

National Historic Ships UK will appoint a panel of judges to select winning photos.  Their decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Invalid entries

National Historic Ships UK shall not be obliged to display photos or films and shall not be liable for any entrant's loss of publicity or enhancement of reputation.  National Historic Ships UK reserves the right to cancel the Competition at any time.  National Historic Ships UK will amend any entry if it has not been entered into the relevant category.  If a photograph is shortlisted in more than one category, it can only win one category.

By entering your images in the National Historic Ships UK Photography Competition you are deemed to have accepted the above rules.
