Rules & Guidelines 2

Shortlisted entries:

For your photograph to be eligible for the shortlist, it must have been taken on a sufficiently high-resolution camera (we recommend at least six million pixels) so your image could be reproduced at 200dpi at A4 size.  For the Classic Boat Favourite category this will have to be 300dpi at A3 size to enable reproduction as a feature image. Technical merit and sufficient resolution will be one of the key selection criteria.

You must have a high resolution version of your photo available.  If you can not produce this, you may not be eligible for inclusion on the shortlist.

If your entry is shortlisted, we will contact you via the email address you provide on the online entry form and ask you to:

  • supply a high resolution version of your photo
  • sign a written agreement that warrants sole authorship of the photo and confirms you have read and understood the competition rules
  • confirm that all necessary permissions have been obtained from any individuals who feature in the photographs you have entered
  • agree to give National Historic Ships UK a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty free, five year license to use, copy, modify, translate and/or adapt, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display by any means and in any media and create derivative works of, and copy, distribute, publicly perform and publicly display such derivative works of your photo
  •  declare if your photo has been digitally manipulated and if so, supply details of the processing method.  Digitally-manipulated photos are eligible but the judging panel will want to take your process into consideration when choosing winning photos

For those entrants under the age of 16, your parents or guardian will need to sign a written consent form.

We will contact you between 14-15th September 2017 if you have been shortlisted.  If you do not reply to this email within two weeks, your photo will not be selected as a winner or highly commended entry. National Historic Ships UK has the right to transfer a photograph from category to another if it fits more suitably.

The overall prize of £1000 must be claimed within nine months of the award ceremony.

Commercial use of shortlisted images:

If your image is shortlisted we reserve the right to reproduce it for commercial purposes including, but not limited to postcards, calendars and flyers.  Please note that images may also be used in Classic Boat magazine in connection with this Competition.
