House Flags

National Historic Ships UK House Flags can be supplied for flying from Registered Historic Vessels, and those previously on the Register but now on the Overseas Watch List (OWL) only. 
Please note they are not available for vessels that have never been Registered.

All such vessels have already been supplied with certificates which include the vessel’s Certificate Number. This number must be provided when ordering. The appropriate flag - Register Vessel or Fleet Vessel - will then be supplied in accordance with the vessel’s official registry status.

- Fully sewn designs supplied roped and toggled ready to fly.

Defaced Ensigns

National Historic Ships UK Defaced Ensigns can be supplied for flying from Registered Historic Vessels and those previously a Registered vessel, but now on the Overseas Watch List (OWL) only. 
Please note they are not available for vessels that have never been Registered.

All such vessels have already been supplied with certificates which include the vessel’s Certificate Number.  This number must be provided when ordering.  The appropriate flag - Register Vessel or Fleet Vessel - will then be supplied in accordance with the vessel’s official registry status.

- As this is a national Ensign endorsed by the Secretary of State, the dimensions have to be as agreed in the design submitted to MOD for approval for all sizes.
- Fully sewn designs are supplied roped and toggled ready to fly.
- A Ministry of Defence 'Ensign Permit' to fly the Defaced Ensign will be issued after delivery.

Conserving Historic Vessels

Front coverThe third volume in the series 'Understanding Historic Vessels', Conserving Historic Vessels (shortlisted for the Mountbatten Literary Award, part of the Maritime Foundation's Maritime Media Awards) is now available for sale at a cost of £30 plus p&p of £5. 

Copies of Conserving Historic Vessels can be purchased as follows:

- If you own a vessel on our Registers, you can purchase a discounted (30%, making it £21 plus the p&p of £5) copy from us directly by cheque only. Please email us to confirm your order and be advised cheques are to be made payable to the National Maritime Museum. 
- Discounted bulk orders (9 copies or more) and review copies are available directly from us. Please email us to confirm your order.
- If you are a member of the Society of Nautical Research (SNR) and/or the Old Gaffers' Association (OGA), you can purchase discounted (30%) copies from the OGA on-line shop directly. You will need to provide your vessel name and ID, or membership number.

- If you are not a registered vessel owner, copies can be purchased via the Royal Museums Greenwich on-line shop.
