GWENILI is a cruising yacht of wooden carvel construction with a BMC diesel engine model 15Y. She was built in 1910 by A la Gorce Fils of Bordeaux Bastide, France.
Though her early history is still being researched, it is known that she was owned by Michael Fellowes in 1939 and was sailed back from Brittany on the outbreak of the Second World War. The present owner bought her from Graham Bushell in 2004.
Previously she was owned by John Humby who was her custodian for 47 years and kept her at Pin Mill where he was a member of the Pin Mill Sailing Club; there is a painting of GWENILI in the club house. She is known to have cruised extensively round the East Anglian coasts, Dutch waters, the Channel Isles, the Isles of Scilly and the Western Isles.
In July 2015, GWENILI sailed from Greenwich Yacht club to brightlingsea to take part in the East Coast Old gaffers Race winning the Tarkers Pin award for the longest passage. She then sailed down the coast via Ramsgate, Newhaven, and joined twelve boats from the UK and Netherlands, to meet with the French OGA in St Malo. Following from this, she took part in Branlebas Regatta 2015.
As of March 2019, GWENILI was sold to a private owner in Greece and transported to Thesilonicia, Northern Greece.
