History

OLIVE is a horse drawn narrow boat of iron riveted construction and was built by W J Yarwood of Northwich in 1930. She is one of six long distance station boats built by Yarwoods, build number 387, and was launched on 23 May 1930. She was named OLIVE on 26 May. Her fleet number for the LMS was 74, with a BCN gauge number of 1609. She was the last in this yard order to be launched.

Registered with Wolverhampton urban sanitary authority on 14 May 1930 and given the number 1138, OLIVE's master at this time was a Mr Edward Bradley. She carried for the LMS until 1 January 1948, at which time she became part of the British Transport Commission Fleet. At this time she was used as a maintenance boat at BWB yard at Norbury in the Shropshire Union canal until passing into private ownership.
