The Conference is a 2-day event, organised by the City of Cardiff Council in partnership with ABP which will be supporting the Volvo Ocean Race Cardiff stopover, with some “fringe” events in the evening of the 30th May.

 

NHS-UK are presenting at the conference:

Victoria Wallworth: under the title Tackling the skills challenge and engaging young people in conservation and operation”, Victoria will be talking about the Historic Vessel Conservation Course which we launched at the end of last year. The course is unique in addressing the specialist knowledge needed to understand a historic vessel project and will establish a national standard, ensuring that the conservation work being carried out on these craft follows recognised guidelines.

Wednesday 30 May

  • The Maritime Heritage Trust will host a conference on A Vision for Heritage.  Speakers are expected to include some of the most successful UK Festival and event organisers as well as updates on the funding outlook for IMT (Industrial, Maritime and Transport) heritage and practical sessions on help for preservation organisations.
  • Visits to Cardiff Bay, Cardiff Docks and the Volvo Ocean Race Village will be available.
  • Evening events will include topics relating to Wales - Year of the Sea.

Thursday 31 May

  • Cardiff Harbour Authority will host a conference on The Vision for the Future of Cardiff Bay - will explore the opportunities and challenges for the future development of Cardiff Bay in the context of Cardiff Council's new vision for the city and its waterfront.
  • Visits to Cardiff Bay, Cardiff Docks and the Volvo Ocean Race Village will be available.
