Come aboard Excelsior!

Location: Heritage Quay, South Pier, Royal Plain, Lowestoft, Suffolk, NR33 0AE

One of the UK’s most historic vessels, Excelsior LT472 is a traditional Lowestoft fishing smack, built a century ago by John Chambers & Co of Lowestoft to trawl the southern North Sea.

In 2021, Excelsior celebrated her Centenary and both John Wylson, who brought her back to Lowestoft, and Excelsior herself were awarded the ‘Freedom of the Town of Lowestoft’. The public are welcome onboard to discover this piece of East Anglian maritime history.
