One our volunteers working on a plank

Come and watch the workers….on 9th October 2019 the Longshed will be a hive of activity – even more than usual when the volunteer shipbuilders are hard at work.

The Longshed will be open from 10.00-16.00.   Damian Goodburn – a leading expert in medieval oak and shipbuilding – is carrying out another training day, including hewing of oak and making ancient wooden tools.

In the evening there is an invitation only event in the John Gibbins gallery, as Professor Martin Carver will be “in conversation with” another leading maritime archaeologist, Dr Julian Whitewright.  And they hope to have more public events like this, so keep your eyes open!
