Artist Emily Jo Gibbs has been working on a new series of embroidered portraits called The Boat Builders, documenting boatbuilders at work at the well-known Berthon Boatyard

It's a "celebration of people who prefer a hands-on approach."  Emily's portraits of Dave 'Curly' Bolwell and apprentice Brad are hand-stitched, a slow process that for Emily "makes the work a quiet, thoughtful act of care and value".

The exhibition, also titled The Boat Builders, was due to run at the St Barbe Museum and Gallery in Lymington, from 27th March to 26th April this year.
