Heritage Development Manager, Grace Darling Museum, Bamburgh, Northumberland
The RNLI is the emergency service you can visit, with lifeboat stations, lifeguard units, shops, museums and visitor centres around the UK & Ireland. We welcome millions of potential supporters through our doors every year.
We need a motivated individual based at the RNLI Grace Darling Museum in Bamburgh, who can manage and develop this important RNLI museum, as well as supporting and integrating wider heritage activity at our volunteer-run museums and lifeboat stations.
This role will be responsible for the efficient running and development of the RNLI Grace Darling Museum, working alongside a team of volunteers. In addition, the postholder will act as ‘Subject Matter Expert’ and support other RNLI teams using their museum and collections skills. You will advise the regional teams on how best to display, interpret and preserve the RNLI heritage at our visitable assets (i.e. lifeboat stations and other volunteer led museum sites). This role will therefore require some travelling across the region, but the role will be based predominantly at the museum in Bamburgh.
This exciting and diverse opportunity would suit a strong people manager with an openness to change and new ideas, who can self-motivate and manage their time, has excellent volunteer management skills, extensive experience of managing collections and a good understanding of the museum sector.
