Lakeland Arts is one of the most remarkable arts and heritage organisations in the north and has an exceptional portfolio of attractions in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Lake District.

Working collaboratively with the Programming team, wider Lakeland Arts team and partners you will tell stories through our collections and places, creating an engaging and participatory experience. You will work with the curatorial team to manage and care for the Lakeland Arts collection, with emphasis on the social and maritime collection, as well as a willingness to engage with and learn about the Arts & Crafts Movement and applied arts.

With the Programming team, you will work with artists and communities to make the collection relevant today, creating participatory experiences that engage audiences in new and meaningful ways. At the forefront of your mind will be our Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation goals to deliver programming for wide audiences, commission new work, create digital content and to enrich our programme by contributing to Lakeland Arts Creative Case for Diversity objectives.

Your immediate focus will be the exhibition programme at Windermere Jetty Museum and Blackwell, which will be co-produced with the Participation & Learning team, and the care of the collection, working with the collections team to advise on the display and storage of the collection. You’ll also assist with the decant of the collection at the Abbot Hall site as it is prepared for redevelopment. This is an exciting opportunity to get hands-on with a vast collection of local, national and international significance.
