The Heritage Alliance is run on a day-to-day basis by a small, professional Secretariat. The Secretariat is overseen by a Board of Trustees, comprised of senior representatives from our membership base.
ADVOCACY AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Start date: as soon as possible.
Place of work: The Heritage Alliance, 5-11 Lavington Street, London, SE1 0NZ
Reporting to: Head of Policy and Communications
Hours per week: Part-time, 17.5 hours (equivalent to 2.5 days with some flexibility on pattern).
Salary: £25,000 pro rata to £12,500
Contract Length: This is a 24 month contract with a three month probationary period.
Are you passionate about the Heritage Sector? Do you want to work at the heart of heritage, shaping the future of The Heritage Alliance? The Heritage Alliance is the heritage sector’s umbrella organisation and advocacy body and we are seeking an outstanding person to take up the key role of Advocacy and Communications Officer. The successful candidate will join the Alliance’s small, busy team based in offices in Southwark, just behind the Tate Modern.
This is an exciting new role made possible by National Lottery Heritage funding and requiring a dynamic, proactive and reliable individual. Reporting to the Chief Executive and Head of Policy and Communications, the role incorporates a wide range of exciting communications, public affairs and policy tasks. Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong writing, website, editorial skills, communication and administrative skills.
Experience working with the media, managing events and meetings is desirable. Whilst a demonstrable interest in heritage policy is important, direct experience across heritage policy areas is not essential; the successful candidate will possess the skills needed to quickly acquire technical knowledge. Similarly, a good understanding of the independent heritage movement and politics/Government is desirable but not essential.
