The SS Great Britain Trust is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic IT Assistant to help maintain both hardware and software IT systems, EPoS systems, audio visual equipment and communications systems, and to aid in the deployment of new systems.

It is a permanent role with a 36.25 working-hour pattern per week that includes weekends.

Main Tasks:

  • Support for IT software and hardware, including network, and PC support, maintenance and upgrades
  • Maintenance and setup of audio visual equipment for conferences and events
  • Oversee and maintain interactive equipment throughout the site
  • Development and application of new IT and AV systems
  • Provide weekend and evening cover and support

Person Specification

Experience and Skills: 

  • Hands-on IT experience in hardware and software environments
  • Great communication skills and ability to work without supervision
  • Keenness and ability to learn new skills
  • AV & video content creation skills are also desirable

Knowledge and Education: 

  • IT-related further or higher education
  • GCSE level or equivalent in English, Maths and a technical subject
  • CompTIA ITF+ or equivalent qualifications are also desirable
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise
  • Enthusiasm for the SS Great Britain Trust’s work and products
