Silvery Light Sailing are a Northern Ireland registered charity community and sail training project.
They seek to promote community and youth sailing, maritime heritage and Tall Ship volunteering opportunities open to all - including the skills needed to keep maritime heritage alive, with traditional sailing, maintenance and boat building training a part of the project plan.
They operate a 100ft Dutch Sailing Barge, Volharding, that provides a platform for education, training and events helping to bond communities throughout Northern Ireland with shared Maritime Sailing Heritage. They aim to regularly visit local ports, engaging youth in adventure sailing as a platform for local maritime history events and presentations, helping revive traditional sailing and boatbuilding skills, an educational platform for schools, a tourist draw and star attraction at festivals, coastal community and maritime events.
The project would like an additional x3 Trustee/Directors to join the board of management, particularly, but not exclusively with, sailing administrative, financial, fundraising, PR or youth work experience.
