ANDROMEDA NO 5 was ordered with Rugby Boat Builders at Hillmorton by D & K Fforde in 1971. Her hull fabricated in AEI Buildings at Rugby by Dave Salisbury of Boughton Fabrications and she was launched as DAISY ASHFORD in 1973.
In 1974 she moved to Uxbridge (still not finished) where the Butty LICHFIELD was being fitted. Four months later the owners took the pair to Stratford upon Avon for the start of their first season and for the opening of the upper Avon - they were the first full length boats to go down it. She was later sold ion 1978 to Schools Abroad for educational purposes.
In 1982 there was a serious fire at Lapworth which completely destroyed the cabin. The insurance payout meant a complete new steel cabin and fitout by Tim Higton at Warwichshire Fly Boat Company / Rex and Simon Wain, with the cost believed to be in the region of £15k. In 1982 she was lent to the Waterways Recovery Group and she was later sold to the Warwickshhire Fly Boat Company in 1986 and renamed JESSICA.
In 1988 and 1990 she was sold again and went into private ownership in 1997 and renamed ANDROMEDA No 5.
In the noughties she had several owners and was sold to her current owner in 2009. ANDROMEDA No 5 now has Butty CYGNUS to venture into a new era.
