2024 Season – The most exciting and ambitious for many years!

The Excelsior Trust, based in Lowestoft, Suffolk, has unveiled their 2023 sailing programme - and some of the most popular trips are already sold out!

The Trust is a charitable organisation (founded in 1983) that provides life changing sailing experiences for young and disadvantaged people, schools and corporate groups, as well as unique sailing opportunities for individuals, all whilst preserving and maintaining one of the UK's historic vessels, Excelsior.

Voyages are planned via the northeast coast of England and Scotland to Orkney, Faroe and Shetland, then across to the Baltic for a full Tall Ships Races 2024 campaign. These legs are open to young people aged 15-25 and will take in Lithuania, Finland, Estonia and Poland. Excelsior will then return to Suffolk for a programme of North Sea Adventures, weekend trips and day sails out of Ipswich, to include a new incarnation of the Harbouring Potential project and the Harwich International Shanty Festival.

“We had an amazing time as an accompanying vessel at the Tall Ships Races this year, and want to continue Excelsior’s involvement in the event. Over the winter we will bring Excelsior back up to Category 1 status, so we can take part fully and offer this exciting opportunity to even more young people. With our ambitious programme for next season, we hope to fly the flag for Lowestoft on the international stage, and give local people of all ages the chance to visit destinations they might not otherwise experience from the sea aboard our beautiful historic ship," said Excelsior Skipper Charlotte Hathaway.
