Volunteers are needed to help create a space for a bakery onboard the historic Thames Sailing Barge SB May.

This female-led barge restoration project aims to create a floating bakery that brings together women who have experienced trauma in their lives; to help build trust and friendship. Women in Boatbuilding and The Bread and Roses Barge Project have come together on a restoration that hopefully one day will be employing women shipwrights, engineers, riggers and electricians in a fully diverse workforce.

Getting funding for projects is a challenge, so by volunteering skills and time we hope to inspire organisations to fund the bakery equipment needed to start our dream of a floating bakery. And have some fun too - there will be coffee and cake, lunch breaks and tunes!

If you have skills, enthusiasm or time to help, please email Belinda at info@womeninboatbuilding.com

Volunteering parties take place at the St Osyth Boatyard, Essex, from 10 - 4 on alternate Sundays; 4th and 18th February, 3rd, 7th and 31st March.
