This Spring, visitors to the National Waterways Museum Gloucester will be able to discover ‘Encounters with the Severn’, a photographic exhibition that reflects the changing life and landscapes of Britain’s longest river.

Created by Cheltenham Camera Club, one of England’s oldest photographic societies, the project follows the River Severn along its 220-mile course, from its source near Llanidloes to the line between the Avon and the Usk.

Through striking images, it offers a snapshot of the river and its communities in the early twenty-first century: moments of industry and movement alongside quiet stretches of water, where history and modern life sit closely together.

The exhibition will run from 5 February to 11 April 2026.
