Before and after: The fo'c'sle of HMS Unicorn has been revealed for the first time in nearly 50 years!

The forecastle, also known as the fo'c'sle, is the most forward area on the upper/weather deck of HMS Unicorn and was hidden for decades behind a bulkhead, which is a wall/divider built on a ship.

It had been originally built to provide storage for chairs and tables used for functions on the deck. But to those who saw it, it was often said that it made the upper deck look more like a village hall!

That bulkhead has now been removed, and the area completely cleared.  The elegant sweep of the ship’s sides, running all the way to the very forward end, can now be seen and appreciated by everyone.  See below for before and after images.
