History

DOROTHY is a classic bermudan yacht, built by Henry Reynolds at Lowestoft in 1904. Her official number was 119380. Her hull is carvel, fastened with copper nails roved and clenched. She has a counter stern and a spoon bow, with oak frames, oak and larch planking and an elm deadwood.

It is believed that DOROTHY was based upon BRITANNIA’s lines and that there were only two other similar vessels built, one of which is called MAIDIE. She was owned by her builder for twenty years until his death in 1924. Private owners purchased her in 1973. Prior to that, she had lain derelict for twenty years at St Oysth.

As of 2019, DOROTHY is currently shore-side in Moulin Blanc Marina in Britanny, France and seeking new owners.  She's had a new suit of cream, terylene sails made for her.  Interested parties can contact Jane Summers : jane1summers@hotmail.com, or Joan Summers: joansummers@hotmail.com
