History
GREENSHANK was built in 1936 by Harland and Woolf, Woolwich, for the Grand Union Canal and carrying Company. Bought by Willow Wren Canal Carrying Company in 1954. Bought in 1973 by Nick Gray and taken to Bristol. She does not hold a MCA licence and therefore is mainly used for storage purposes. With the vessel REDSHANK, both the vessels can be seen in a very public position in Bristol docks.
Between 2013 and 2017 GREENSHANK was refitted with a glass roof into a floating café bar space. The space became much loved on the harbour, however in June 2021 the boat sank to the bottom of Bristol Harbour due to a burst valve which caused her to fill with water overnight. After being rescued from the bottom of the harbour she underwent an 18 moths refit and in May 2023 she returned to Wapping Wharf as a floating bar space. The bar is open from May- September each year.
