History

Built in 1933 by Yarwoods of Northwich, SWIFT is a narrowboat with a steel hull and a Lister HA2 diesel engine. She was supplied new to the chemical firm Cowburn & Cowper of Manchester for foundation of their own fleet. Later, she became part of the British Waterways maintenance fleet until being initially restored in the early 1990s. She was later completely refurbished and repainted in 2006 by volunteers from the Working Boat Project.
