History
Built in 1898 by Braithwaite & Kirk, Dudley for Fellows Morton & Clayton, FMC 138 is a narrowboat joey with a composite hull of iron sides and an elm bottom. She remained in trade until circa 1950 and was then converted to a houseboat with full length accommodation and motorised. She is now being restored to her original form as an open cargo carrying boat and is destined to be an exhibit at the Black Country Living Museum. Between March and October 2007, major works to replace her 'lace' iron bottoms and the old re-footing was undertakenl; the stern gear adaptation was removed and the portion of stem fabricated to match the surviving one. All the knees and guards were hot riveted back into position and three missing crossbeams were replicated.
