History

TADWORTH is a narrow boat of steel plate construction with a Petter PJW diesel engine. The vessel was built by Yarwoods of Northwich in 1937 and worked variously for The Grand Union Canal Company, British Waterways, Ashby Canal Carriers and coal retail. TADWORTH is one of the last canal boats to supply Roses Lime Juice factory and still has a very rare original riveted back cabin. She is now based in London and remains in commercial trade. Owner reported TADWORTH sold to new owner September 2019.

In 2019, she had a major rebuild including much steel work on the hull and cabin, rebuilt the Petter PJW3, extensive repairs to the cabin fit out and new running gear. This was completed in March 2021, she went straight to work carrying gas, diesel and solid fuels for retail sales on the Southern GU.

Further work was completed in summer 2024 where further hull was completed including straightening out a pronounced hog and the engine swapped out for a Lister HRW2.
