History

CHARMIAN OF POOLE was built in 1914 by W Allen of Poole as a Bermudan gentleman's yacht. She is of timber carvel construction and her current engine is a Vetus diesel of 53 hp, installed in 2001. The vessel was found in Greece in 1983 and her owner extended her to her current 38 ft length based on pilot cutter lines and changed the rig to top mast gaff cutter. Sold on and subject of a major restoration to stem decks and coach roof, she was bought in 2006 by her current owners who live onboard and race her in various regattas. She has won the Concours Trophy in Fowey in 2008 and Plymouth in 2009 and also won the Pilot Cutter Review in 2010.
