History

ABER is a Woolowich class Narrow Boat built by Harland & Wolff at Woolwich in1936 and is a vessel of steel riveted construction with a Russell Newbery diesel engine.

Commissioned by and working for the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company she began cargo carrying duties. After a long career as a carrying boat in about 1963 she became a maintenance boat and later passed through various ownerships until bought by her present owner in 2012.
