Built in 1938 by W Denny of Dumbarton, THE SECOND SNARK is a passenger vessel with the capacity for 120 passengers. Her current engine is a Gardner 66kw which was installed in 1972. Her port of registry is Greenock and her area of operation is the Firth of Clyde where she runs a year round service between Gourock and Kilcreggan and also public and charter trips in the area. She is one of the last Denny built vessels afloat.
Update, 2019: After being saved from demolition, ownership has been taken over by the Second Snark Preservation Trust, who returned her to the Clyde and aim to restore THE SECOND SNARK to operational condition.
Originally built by W. Denny of Dumbarton for their own use as tug/tender
Ownership transferred to Brown Bros
Purchased by Clyde Marine and returned to Clyde via Caledonian Canal
Gardner 66kw engine installed
Operating year round service between Gourock and Kilcreggan along with public and charter trips
Fully restored to 1938 condition following two year lay up
Took part in charter with paddle steamer WAVERLEY to Loch Riddon
