History
A cutter rigged leisure craft built in 1892 by F Wilkinson for a businessman who sailed with the Royal Temple Yacht Club at Ramsgate. A rare example of a Victorian racing cutter, she won the Round Britain race in 1904.
Found rotting on a Suffolk river in the 2000s, LEILA was restored by the Leila Sailing Trust of Lowestoft and operated as a sail training vessel. She also took part in Tall Ships races and events. After they went out of business in 2019, the boat was passed to her current owner and has been under restoration since then. LEILA is (or will be) part of the Maybe Sailing fleet together with the gaff ketch Maybe and the three-masted schooner Blue Clipper. Once restored, she will operate as a sail training boat for children and young adults once again.
