The National Historic Ships UK Photography Exhibition is back for a fourth year at Historic Dockyard Chatham!  The exhibition showcases a selection of the winning and shortlisted images from our 2024 Photo Competition, which had a theme of ‘True Colours’.  A fascinating range of traditional heritage vessels have been captured by amateur photographers from around the UK.

This year the exhibition has relocated from the industrial surrounds of the Pipe Bending Floor Gallery to the immense 3 Slip.  When built in 1838, it was the largest wide span timber structure in Europe.  The amazing cantilever roof was built to the design of shipwright Sir Robert Seppings and features a gracefully curved ‘apse’ at its landward end, designed to accommodate a ship’s bow.  Today 3 Slip is home to a vast array of historic objects and vehicles - and now the NHS-UK Photography Exhibition!

The exhibition runs from Saturday 30th August to Sunday 16th November 2025 and entry is included in your Dockyard ticket.
