History

The hopper barge LTC No 6 was one of two built by Chas Hill of the Albion Dockyard Bristol in 1936 for the Sharpness New Docks and Gloucester and Birmingham Navigation Company and is a bottom dump hopper barge of 172 deadweight tons. It was built as one of two identical sisters for use primarily in dredging Sharpness Docks and the Gloucester Sharpness Canal. At some point, she was purchased by the British Waterways Board, and later by F. Larkum of Newnham on Severn. in 1998, Laxey Towing Company Limited purchased the barge, which they still operate.
