History

PROGRESS was built in Pratts Dock, Birmingham for W. Elwell & Sons in 1936. She functioned on the Birmingham Canal navigations throughout World War 2 delivering coal and continued to do this until the 1950s when she was then converted for hire. She had a sister boat called TIPTONIAN - another tug for the same company. Currently in excellent condition, PROGRESS has been rebuilt all from oak.
