History

EVE OF ST MAWES is a replica based on an early Scillonian pilot cutter of the early 19th century - the original pilot cutters were used for embarking pilots to ships entering the western approaches.  She was built in the traditional manner with traditional techniques.

The vessel has been operated as a successful sail training craft since launch.  Through the operation of the vessel, the Falmouth pilot cutter review started in 2006 and continues today.  She has cruised all areas of the Channel attending many festivals and introducing approx. 2700 people to traditional sailing.

No major visual changes have taken since the vessel was built, although a new engine was installed in 2006.
