History
THE ELLIOTT GILL was built as a Liverpool Class lifeboat in 1953 by Groves & Gutteridge of Cowes, Isle of Wight, the penultimate Liverpool Class Lifeboat built. She is of double diagonal mahogany construction.
She operated as the Runswick Lifeboat from 1954 to 1970 and was then transferred to the Reserve Fleet. During her past, she was named GILL and WENDY & BARBARA.
The ELLIOTT GILL was withdrawn from service in 1970 after 39 launches and saving 24 lives.
In May 2022 she was afloat again after ten years, after a complete restoration to its original condition by Craig Glassonbury. She has two reconditioned 40hp Lister diesel engines.
Update, July 2025: Vessel for sale.
