History
MICHAELA was built in 1944. It is thought she was built for the Admiralty, and the hull number HSL 315 is carved inside the transom. She is built of double diagonally planked Burmese teak and laid on oak timbers fastened by copper boat nails clenched on roves. She was fitted with a 100hp Dorman v8 engine, which is still present today.
At some point, she was sold out of service, and in the 1970s she was converted to a gaff ketch, with two masts being added to the vessel. She sailed throughout European waters as a house vessel until being left in Essex. Her previous owner rescued the vessel in 2023 and restored her to a seaworthy state, and in 2024 she was acquired by her current owners.
