History

FRIDAY was built as a prototype pleasure boat by Ken Keays. It was the only leisure boat to be completed by him, there was another hull but was left unfinished. As far as aware she is the only one on the network.

She has all original planking, minus a small section at the stern end. And the original engine has been rebuilt and is still in the boat. She is a prime example of the shift between working boats and leisure boats around the area. There are photos in the Ken Keays boat builders sketchbook, of FRIDAY awaiting stern gland being put in. She was rescued by her current owners two years ago after taking on water. She is since showing no signs of going back under.

The hull integrity is immaculate especially for a boat of its age. She has had a steel RSJ installed approximately 17years ago, as there was no kilson, and it gave the added strength needed to lift the boat out safely. This is the only modern work done to the structure.
