Kampfner Development Consultancy (KDC) specialises in the conservation and project management of historic ships and industrial maritime heritage. Using inventive, creative and entrepreneurial solutions KDC develops and delivers fresh and innovative solutions to conserving maritime heritage - revitalising their economic and social value. In 2001, the team founded the SS Robin Trust, the registered charity which owns SS Robin, the world’s oldest complete steamship, built in London in 1890. KDC developed the conservation, funding and transformation of this historic vessel, taking a start-up charity from a grass roots, volunteer-led base to a £3.5m major restoration scheme.

The company has recently been appointed lead consultants to the Port of Tilbury Ltd to draw up an exciting regeneration scheme for historic Tilbury Riverside station and liner terminal. The Big Ocean Project is set to become a new maritime museum dedicated to the story of migration.

In addition to its regeneration projects, KDC London runs Captains of Tomorrow, an innovative training programme for aspiring young entrepreneurs based in the Royal Docks in London's east end, and advises the London Ships Group.
