Skippers & Mates wanted for classic Junk Yacht Boleh

Could you skipper a classic blend of British and Malaysian yacht design?

Boleh, launched Singapore 1949, restored 2009–15, part of the UK Heritage Fleet (Historic Vessel No. 2281), is looking for volunteer Skippers and Mates for the 2026 season.  Boleh is equipped with innovative auxiliary diesel-electric propulsion, is based at Haslar Marina in Gosport, Hampshire, and takes clients on day or week-long sails in the Solent or further afield.

Bruce Snelling, Trustee and Lead Skipper, says "This is a rare opportunity to sail a uniquely designed historic vessel, combined with assisting children and adults facing challenges in life."

Skippers must hold RYA Yachtmaster (Coastal) with commercial endorsement; Mates must hold RYA Day Skipper or higher. The Trust will provide training to ensure you are able and confident to take Boleh to sea with members of the public on board. These are unpaid volunteer positions, but the Boleh Trust is keen for Mates to advance to Skipper and is able to offer Skippers and Mates some assistance with training and qualification costs.
