Mike Read Appointed Patron of Saving Our Sarah CIC Falmouth, Cornwall 

Saving Our Sarah CIC is honoured to announce that Mr. Mike Read, esteemed broadcaster, author, and television presenter, has accepted the role of Patron for the community interest company. This appointment represents a significant milestone in the campaign to restore the 1951 Sarah Townsend Porritt, a distinguished Watson Class RNLI lifeboat. 

Mr. Read has a longstanding commitment to preserving cultural and historical heritage, having been involved in numerous projects celebrating British history and music. His enthusiasm for safeguarding important stories and artefacts makes him a natural advocate for Saving Our Sarah CIC’s mission to restore and preserve this unique piece of maritime heritage. 

The Sarah Townsend Porritt served with distinction, saving over 40 lives during her operational career. As she approaches her 75th anniversary, the project is focused on securing a permanent and suitable restoration space to safeguard this important vessel for future generations. Mr. Read’s association with Saving Our Sarah CIC will considerably enhance the company’s efforts to raise awareness, galvanise community support, and attract partners committed to preserving maritime heritage.
