MAST APPEAL - SEA SCAMP NEEDS YOU
Windfall Yacht Sea Scamp has been named National Historic Ships UK Flagship of the Year 2026, recognising her as one of Britain’s most significant working heritage vessels. She is run entirely as a non-profit organisation, dedicated to giving people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds the chance to experience the thrill and freedom of sailing a true classic. She isn’t locked behind museum ropes - she sails, she teaches, she welcomes.
Sea Scamp has sailed through 90 years of history - but today, she faces a challenge she cannot weather alone. Her original 1936 Sitka spruce mast, in service since the day she was launched, has finally reached the end of its life. A temporary repair has kept her going for one last season, but to keep her sailing into 2027 and beyond, a full replacement is now essential.
A new mast, crafted by Collars of Oxford to her exact 15.4 m design, will restore her strength, balance, and authenticity. A £1,000 grant from National Historic Ships UK has kickstarted the effort - but we still need to raise £19,000 to secure her future. Now she needs us.
