History

Built in 1946 by John Harker of Knottingley, Yorkshire, RENEE is a West Country Keel barge of steel construction with a Lister B4M diesel engine. She was built for Hargreaves Limited of Leeds, carrying coal to Thornhill and Ferrybridge Power Stations on the Aire and Calder Navigation and the Calder and Hebble Navigation. When the vessel was retired by Hargreaves she had a rear wheel house fitted and the hold area was steeled over and converted to a cabin/living area. RENEE is now based at Shardlow Marina, Derbyshire. She is floating but is due to be taken out of the water in early 2009 to have new bottom plates fitted after which a full refurbishment will be undertaken.
