History

CAPREOLUS is a Bermudan yawl of carvel construction, mahogany on oak with a Beta Marine diesel engine. She was built by R A Newman & Sons of Hamworthy, Poole for Sir John Power Bt. to a design that was inspired by the famous Sparkman and Stephens yacht FINESTERRE. In 1966 she passed into the ownership of Major D V Bonsor who was a member of the Royal Yacht Squadron and therefore wore the white ensign for the next ten years. In 1986 she was bought by 2 brothers who made considerable efforts to bring her back to a good condition but in 2002 she was sold again and allowed to fall into neglect. She was bought in 2008 by her present owner and is now undergoing a full restoration.
