History
DAPHNE is a narrow boat of planked oak and elm construction with a National DM2 diesel engine, built by Nursers of Braunston in 1938. After many years working on the canals she was sold in 1961 and was converted to a houseboat. After some changes in ownership she was rebuilt by J. Woolley in 1985.
Bought by her present owners in 2014, she has been the subject of a long-term rebuild and improvement plan. As of 2026, progress has been limited by canal closures in the North West, which have restricted travel from her home mooring. Recent work has been confined to basic maintenance, including lifting out of the water for caulking, minor repairs and tarring. As of 2026 she remains in the care of her owners.
