History

Built in 1936 at Dunston’s in Thorne for Joseph Rank (Rank Mills), RM 58 was initially used for transport of grain in the North of England. The barge was registered at Hull Registration Office. RM 58 has travelled around the North East as an arts barge in York, education centre and art gallery in Goole amongst other projects. Many people have fond memories of her. The barge is made from 10mm riveted steel/iron and is in very good condition for her age, she has a 10mm steel roof with 8 velux windows. The main exterior has all original features, she has never had an engine so is under tug if relocation is ever needed. RM 58 is very limited to where she can be moored due to the width, which could explain why she has spent most of her life around the North East even after retirement. RM 58 was bought in 2019 and after five years of hard work has now being fully converted into a houseboat.
