History
PLAUSIBLE had been one of four tugs built for the Port of London in 1968. Built in Wivenhoe, she would have been one of the first tugs built for the PLA to have a 360 degree schottle unit, which is now common place in modern day tugs. Down below in the engine room it is all original as it left the yard .
On deck originally she had been fitted with a first of its kind lowering wheel house allowing it to go under very low bridges and is demonstrated in a bfi film from 1968. With new regulations for workboats many vessels are in a state of disrepair and being scrapped but not so for PLAUSIBLE (also known as FREIGHT MOVER during the 80s). Having brought the vessel back to its home waters the owner intends to keep its history and that of the Cooks of Wivenhoe Ship Builders alive by engaging with the public when the vessel is not at work such as we have just done by taking sea cadets out for the blessings of the water in the River Colne.
