History
KIAMARA was built in 1960 by William Osbourne of Littlehampton, West Sussex. She is a 50ft Gentleman’s Yacht, presumably built to a bespoke design of mahogany and teak, and is fitted with her original twin Detroit Diesel engines. Her original owners were based on the Norfolk Broads and did regular trips to the Mediterranean via the French canal network. Her original name is unknown, and at some point she was named JOYCE JULIA
In the 1980s, JOYCE JULIA was sold to a new owner based on the Isle of Wight and cruised along the Solent and the South Coast. In 2010, she was sold to new owners based in Liverpool. She remained in Liverpool Marina and slowly fell into disrepair. In 2020, her owner passed AWAY and a fault in her coolant hose led to her nearly sinking.
In 2021, she was purchased by her current owner, renamed KIAMARA, and lifted out of Liverpool Marina, at which point her hull was found to be in pristine condition. She was then moved to the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool, where she is currently based and undergoing a nearly-finished four-year-long conservation project.
