History

THREE BROTHERS FE93 was launched in 1901 by W Frazier & Son of Mevagissey, for local owner W H May. The vessel remained in the May Family’s ownership until the 1950s-60s, passing to W Frazier’s wife upon his passing in 1934 and to their sons, B and H May, upon her passing in 1944. She had a 21 HP Kelvin diesel fitted in 1914.

During the First World War, the May Family put up Belgian refugees, and in 1919 THREE BROTHERS sailed to Ostend, Belgium, to have a capstan and wheelhouse fitted, with the Mays staying with the families they had put up. It is also known that THREE BROTHERS took part in Operations Dynamo and Cycle in May and June 1940.

After the May sons retired, the vessel was purchased by W Grayling and moved to Folkestone. In 1965, THREE BROTHERS was purchased by E Thompson of Folkestone, and in 1966, she was purchased by E J Luckhurst of London and moved to Faversham.

At some point after this, she sunk, and remained so until the 1980s, at which point she was acquired by B Hobbs, who refloated THREE BROTHERS and moved her to Bristol. There, she was restored and put back into sailing.

Not much is known about the vessel’s history between the 1990s and the 2010s, only that she was based in Portugal at some point before being purchased by C and M Rees of Millbrook, Cornwall, where they based her. In 2018, she was purchased by her current owner who has been undertaking regular repairs of the vessel whilst living aboard. As of 2025, she is based in Truro.
