Name Eabora

Built in Crosshaven, Cork in 1956 as a naval tender by Session Marine Ltd, EABORA was purchased by Scottish novelist Alistair MacLean in 1962. Under his ownership the vessel was converted to a motorsailer. The engine was replaced with a 6LX Gardner, and a bow thruster was fitted. MacLean owned her for a number of years, during which he wrote three of his famous novels while she was moored in Scotland.

The vessel was later moved to Dartmouth, UK, and then to St Tropez, where she was owned by DAKS Clothing Ltd. She was subsequently purchased by an owner from Jersey, Channel Islands. Between 2000 and 2005 she underwent an extensive refit in St Malo, including new masts, teak decking, and a new interior, though the helm and other original fittings were retained. She then cruised Ireland, Scotland, Norway, and the Baltic for seven to eight years.

EABORA was purchased by her current owner in 2023, at which point further extensive hull and topside work was carried out in Granville, France. She is currently berthed in Jersey, moving to a UK marina in early 2027.
