Convoi Exceptionnel Ltd offers services to road hauliers for abnormal load permits, route surveys, and escort cars in the UK and on the continent. 

Tony Lovell set up the Company in 1989, when he realised that, in his 15 years as a truck driver carrying boats to France, Italy and Spain, he’d worked out how to get road permits on the continent, when many others couldn’t do it. Tony helped to found the Heavy Transport Association, the lobby group for the UK abnormal loads industry, and he contributed to setting up the Code of Practice for private escort vehicles. Tony died in November 2025 at the age of 82. Convoi Exceptionnel Ltd is now Rosie Marshall, Caroline Ward, and Shawn D’sousa.
