Leeds Bronze Engineering was formed in 1974 as a specialist producer of bronze bearings and bushes. Over the years we have continued to grow, and are now the UK's largest manufacturer of bronze bearings and bushes. Our expertise in this field is also backed by our stockholding facility. Our Leeds site holds the largest UK stock of copper based alloys. These are predominately bronze alloys to European specifications, and cover the full range of bronze alloys, including leaded bronze, phosphor bronze, aluminium bronze and other bronze parts.

But that is exactly what has happened. The business has expanded and diversified to become a thriving Company, which, with the fourth generation of the Birch Family in control, is well positioned to progress further for another century to come.

Lyon Equipment

Way back in 1965, Ben Lyon, aided by engineer brother Graham, started making caving ladders. The name 'Lyon Ladders' was registered in 1973. In the same year Ben, with Mike Meredith, took a party of cavers to France and called in on Fernand Petzl's 3-man workshop. Mike started imports to the UK, handing on to Ben's business in 1974, making 'Lyon' the first overseas Petzl distributor. The next move was to change our name to Lyon Equipment.
