The National Waterways Museum Gloucester is introducing a new Tour of the Boats - a great way to explore the remarkable heritage of our floating exhibits listed on the National Historic Ships Register.
This new volunteer-led activity gives visitors the chance to step aboard Queen Boadicea II, the dredger SND No. 4, and Sabrina 5, with a guide on hand to share insights into their history and significance.
The tour also marks the reopening of SND No. 4, our 1925 steam dredger, which is once again accessible to visitors after five years. As the dredger celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025, it’s a wonderful opportunity to see up close one of the vessels that helped keep Gloucester Docks and the Sharpness Canal clear for navigation.
Tours are available Tuesday to Saturday (except Wednesday afternoons). They don’t run at set times - simply ask at the front desk during your visit and say you would like a tour of the boats. Tours are weather dependent and subject to volunteer availability.
We’re grateful to our volunteers for developing and running this new experience, and we look forward to welcoming you on board.
