History
CAROLE ANN OF HAMBLE is a twin screw motor yacht of double diagonal teak and oak construction and is fitted with twin Perkins SM6 diesel engines. She was built in 1958 by Graham Bunn of Wroxham to a design by R M Martins. Although based on a Norfolk Broads cruise design the vessel was designed for the sea and built to the personal preferences of the entertainer George Formby and his wife Beryl, her first owners. Her first name was LADY BERYL II, built to replace their first boat, LADY BERYL.
She was sold in 1962 to an anonymous buyer for over £5000 and her name was changed from LADY BERYL II to CAROLE ANN OF HAMBLE.
The vessel was completely rebuilt from 1998-2012 by her then owner Kevin Shadbolt.
Update, 2026: Believed under new ownership. A restoration was carried out at C&M Traditional Boat Repairs of Marlow, with new bulkheads, new teak window frames, large fixed openings divided and converted to sliding windows with matching handles and locks, stanchions and deck hardware sent for chroming, and a full paint and varnish inside and out. The vessel's name was also changed to NELLY BELL.
